Need to know how old someone was — or will be — on a specific date? Job applications, retirement planning and legal documents often need this exact figure.
The method
- Subtract birth year from target year for a rough age.
- If the birthday hasn't occurred yet in the target year, subtract one year.
- For months and days, "borrow" like subtraction in school, accounting for month lengths and leap years.
Example
Born June 15, 1995 → on January 1, 2030: 2030 − 1995 = 35, but the birthday hasn't happened yet, so 34 years old.
Our age calculator does this instantly for any date — try entering a future date to see a countdown, or use the date calculator for days-between math.
